Everybody knows how fast the forex market is growing. You don't need to be a genius to realize that many of the new people that are joining this market may not have a full understanding of how this market trades and end up losing money.

So as a little tip for those that are just beginning their forex careers, here are the top 5 things you need to do to achieve forex success when you are just starting out:

1) You must be able to trust yourself and your trades.  This is a big time killer in most forex accounts. There are a lot of traders who are using good, solid trading systems, but are constantly second guessing themselves.  They either are too hesitant to let a trade go or they are just too timid to take a trade.  Confidence is very important when it comes to forex trading.

2) Know that there is a learning curve with this. You wouldn't expect to be a doctor just by going to a hospital and seeing what the staff is doing.  You will have to get your feet wet and learn the basics behind all of this.  Remember that everybody had to start somewhere.  It's not like you woke up and you were suddenly Warren Buffett.

3) Figure out the kind of trader you are going to be. There are a few different styles of trading.  You could be a day trader.  You could be a swing trader, where you try to catch the bottoms and tops of a ranging market.  You could be a position trader, where you are holding trades for months even years (this is more of an investor than a trader). You could even be a scalper, where you go in and out of the market 20 times a day.  All you are going for are a few pips a trade. The choices are endless.

4) Read as much as you can (don't overdo it though). It's very important that you truly learn the ins and outs of forex.  There is a lot of good information out there.  A great book to read about what is needed to be able to do this full time is  Bird Watching in Lion Country. 

5) Keep Learning. Even if you get to become a full time trader, and make a lot money trading forex, keep reading and learning.  This market is constantly evolving, and you need to evolve with it.  The forex market changes every single year.  You've got to be prepared to change with it.
